Living Like a Tourist

In the past two weeks, we've been in the Chicago area, Milwaukee and up to LaCrosse to visit family.  These are all very familiar places for us, as my husband and I grew up here.  Because of this, so many places here have special meaning for us. Tomorrow night, we'll be heading to our favorite restaurant where we first met...two days ago we were at the location where my husband proposed.  It's been great to revisit these special places.  But as we've been doing all this driving, we've also passed by a lot of tourist sites that we've never visited...or at least haven't visited in a REALLY long time.  They've always been on our "We should go there someday" list.  Perhaps it's time to start visiting those 'someday' sites.

What I really appreciate about our time in Germany, is that I've become so determined to see as much as I can and have become a perpetual tourist.  I'm always trying to find new places to go, and in the process I've learned so much about history and different cultures.  It has changed my mindset.  Yet, it can be so easy when I'm in a very familiar environment to stay with what I know...to not seek out the new and different places...and to live like...welll...like I live here.  So this is now going to be my personal challenge...that no matter where I live or who I am visiting, I will continue to live like a tourist.

Since I'm in WI, now, I've been thinking of all the places in WI on my "Someday" list.  Here's what I've come up with so far:

Perhaps during our next Stateside visit, you'll see a blog post about one of these locations :)

What are some sites near you that are on YOUR "We should go there someday" list?
